YOU can imagine the surprise of the Bodalla 150 Year Celebration committee when a new sign was erected near the old cheese factory at Bodalla welcoming people to the 'Historic Village of Bodalla 1850'.
A quick calculation and if the sign was correct, it meant that Bodalla would actually be 160 years old and not celebrating its sesquicentenary (150 years).
A quick ring around to local historians Laurelle Pacey and Helen Townend revealed that the sign was indeed wrong.
A committee was formed in early October to oversee the celebrations surrounding the village of Bodalla turning 150 years.
Katherine Crapp of Bodalla who is heading the Bodalla 150 Year committee made a couple of phone calls and within the week the sign was fixed by the local business who installed it to read 1860.
The Bodalla 150 year committee met again on Tuesday, October 27 to further discuss plans for the sesquicentenary.
Eurobodalla Coast Tourism destination and niche marketing officer Catherine Reilly attended the meeting to advise the committee on event planning and marketing.
The committee is inviting expressions of interest from community groups, organisations and interested people interested in being a part of celebrating Bodalla's 150 years
Expressions of interest forms will be available at the next Bodalla 150 Years community meeting in the Bodalla Community Hall on Monday, November 16 at 7pm.
Everyone who is interested is invited to attend.
