A GENEROUS donation of a dozen cartoons of beer from O'Brien's Hotel to each of Narooma's four winter sporting teams has gone down, well like a cold beer on a hot day.
Publican Paul O'Brien said he wanted to do something for each of the town's sporting clubs who were all chasing support for the upcoming season.
"All the clubs are out there chasing money and going for the same bite of the cherry," he said.
"This is a way for us to show support for each of the clubs.
"It's not sponsorship but just a one-off donation."
Representatives from the AFL Lions, Rugby League Devils, Rugby Union Whales and Soccer Redbacks all attended the pub on Wednesday afternoon to pick up their cartons.
Each of the clubs plans to sell the beer to raise funds potentially gaining around $1500 toward club coffers.
AFL Lions president Mick Clothier said the town's winter sports team were all coming off a great season with all four clubs making it to the finals.
The donation of the beer was a great gesture with the Lions planning to sell their beers over the counter at the games to raise funds, he said.
Mr O'Brien said there was a great spirit of cooperation between the clubs with several locals playing for more than one team,
O'Brien's Hotel also was a major sponsor and benefactor for the Narooma Surf Lifesaving Club, with the pub hosting the club's raffles on Friday night and Mr O'Brien personally purchasing the surf boat for the Narooma women's rowing team.
O'Brien's also "looks after" the Narooma Numnutz winter swimmers and the junior rugby league teams.
