THE mystery surrounding a unique photograph found floating in the water at Quarterdeck Café early this year has been solved.
Bermagui's Jim Wright has laid claim to the photograph which Quarterdeck Café owner Chris Scroggy found floating in the water four weeks ago.
"I just glanced at it," Mr Wright said.
"But my wife (Margaret) said 'I think that's your dad'."
He said he and his sister, Beverly and cousin Tony Judd were lunching at the Quarterdeck on August 21, reminiscing about the old days, when the photocopied copy of the photograph slipped through the boards.
Mr Wright said the photograph was of his father, Royce Frederick (Mick) Wright, when he was two-years-old.
His father, known as Mick because of his red hair, was born at Rochford, Victoria in the shadow of Hanging Rock, known for the mystery of "Picnic at Hanging Rock".
Jim Wright, who moved to Narooma area after he purchased a holiday home after working on the Snowy Hydro scheme, has now retired to Bermagui.
His father, Mick, lived in Brighton, Victoria until 1987, when he moved to Bermagui, and then Dalmeny. He died in December 1989.
Jim said he contacted his niece, Jann Shepherd, in Moruya to get her to double check with his sister, Beverly, who lives at Banksia Lodge, that the photograph was definitely of Mick.
Mr Wright said his sister, Beverley, has the original copy of the photograph.
