Drinking hang-out issues
POLICE patrolling the Narooma skatepark on the weekend caught youths drinking on several occasions, confiscating and tipping out around five wine casks and bottles. A number of youths ran when approached by officers.
Residents in the area have also been intimidated and threatened by youths at the skatepark. Neighbours say eggs and knives have been thrown at houses and the bomb squad from the Bay had to come when a mysterious package was located on their doorstep due to the packages contents and it being left there late at night.
Residents are calling for more patrols of the area.
Parking lot assault
A WOMAN returning from shopping got into her car in the Narooma Plaza car park at 5.45pm on Wednesday night when her car door knocked the neighbouring car.
She felt a blow to her ear and then was verbally assaulted by the male owner of the other car who is described as being about 60, bald, Caucasian and thin and in the company of an Asian woman in her 30s or 40s.
She drove away fearing for her safety and contacted police who are calling for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
North Narooma car theft
POLICE are asking for witnesses who saw anyone walking around the Eastaway Avenue area after a car was stolen and several others broken into on Thursday night.
At 12.30am on Friday someone entered a Maroon Holden Commodore that had just been parked by a resident on a nearby street and drove it away.
The ransacked Commodore with some front-end damage was located at Kianga the next day and was fingerprinted.
Unknown persons broke into the cars that night sometime between 11pm and 12.30am with police finding discarded belongings nearby as well as other items not yet reported stolen.
Bikes recovered in pieces
TWO bicyles stolen from the rear of the squash courts in the Narooma industrial area overnight on Tuesday last week were found on Sunday in bush at the bottom of Isobel Street with one of the bikes stripped to its frame. Police are continuing their inquiries and anyone with information should call the Narooma station on 4476 2044.
Major damage to cinema
VANDALS were lucky not to be electrocuted when vandalising the two air-conditioning units behind the Narooma cinema sometime on Saturday night as the wires including mains power were ripped out.
Unlicenced driver caught
POLICE were alerted to a 21-year-old Wallaga Lake man driving a vehicle without license plates south of Narooma on Wednesday. He was charged with driving unregistered, unlicensed and uninsured.
Late for supper
A 20-YEAR-OLD Narooma man was seen driving a Holden Commodore station wagon at high speed on the Princes Highway on the Flat at 6.50pm on Tuesday last week. When stopped by police, the P-plater allegedly admitted travelling at 80km/h and said he was racing home to dinner. He was issued with a speeding fine.
Neighbourhood thefts
SOMEONE attempted to gain entry to a Clarke Street house between October 18 and 30 removing a fly screen, while three large magnetic signs were stolen from a business on Mort Avenue on Friday, October 30.
Graffiti vandals wanted
POLICE are asking that anyone who saw vandals graffiti walls and walkways at the Narooma Plaza with black Texta sometime between 5.30pm on Friday, October 23 and 7.30am on Sunday to contact them.
