NAROOMA has a major new tourism asset with the launch this week of the www.narooma.org.au website.
The visually stunning site designed by Glen Ryan was commissioned by the Narooma Chamber of Commerce and is expected to attract millions of hits, hopefully boosting visitor numbers for the district and providing a focal point for anyone looking to move here.
The site also allows the Chamber to trial new branding for Narooma which, if well received, can be rolled out into other visual concepts.
The aspirational catch line “Narooma – how life should be” has drawn a favourable response from a target market research group and surveyed Chamber members, but has yet to be tested on locals and visitors.
“I’m delighted to say the new website is now live and active and it’s great to see the fresh branding and exciting dynamics within the site. We’ve tried hard to make sure that while offering the highest quality of site, it is still user friendly and appealing. We’ve also included community elements with charities and community groups being given free one-page listings,” Chamber president Nigel Jackson said.
“We all know that it has been a long and bumpy process to get a web presence of the quality that the town deserves – but the end result is something Narooma should be proud of.
“It’s a true showcase of what the district offers and hopefully it will get a lot of new visitors to the district and generate some income,” he said.
“Thanks must go to Glen Ryan for building such a quality site, for being so professional throughout and for donating some of his photography. Thanks also to Kate Jackson for writing all of the text.
“And of course to the talented Jon Poyner whose generosity and amazing photography have been integral to this site becoming the best town district site I’ve ever seen… and I’ve been looking at a lot,” Mr Jackson said.
“There’ll still be plenty of work to do to maximise the search engine optimisation but Glen is already onto this and will keep us posted of how we’re going – he’s pretty confident of us getting to where we need to be over the next few months.
“As with any well-managed site, it’s fluid and changeable and will need tweaking over time.’
The site puts great emphasis on the Montague Island, Marine Park, National Parks, the boardwalk, fishing, diving and the district’s towns and villages.
“We felt it was time that Montague was associated with the Narooma district at a much higher level – you’ll see a ‘Discover Montague Island’ section on the home page,” Mr Jackson said.
The site also boasts a local business directory as well as a chamber section helping potential businesses with advice and support on the opportunities within the district.
“The business directory allows local member businesses the opportunity to have quality web-presence at a low cost,” Mr Jackson said.
Any business wanting to join the website and have a quality one page listing on the site should visit www.narooma.org.au and upload details. A one-page listing is free of charge for chamber members and chamber membership only costs $80 for a full year.
Once a business uploads their details they will then have their own web-address www.narooma.org.au/businessname.
“Finally, I encourage everyone to look at www.narooma.org.au and see how we’re portraying the district online… and I hope they enjoy what they see,” Mr Jackson said.
