TWO new police officers have arrived in Bermagui, but the husband and wife team are not at all strangers to the area.
Senior Constable Dan Bishop and his wife Senior Constable Susen White moved into the Bermagui police station residence and started their duties last week.
Dan Bishop is the new permanent, on-call officer for Bermagui supplementing existing officer Senior Constable Dan Magrin, while Susen will be a part-time police officer working out of the Narooma police station.
They have not come far as Senior Constable Bishop was a detective at Batemans Bay while Senior Constable White was a uniformed officer also at the Bay.
And Susen White's family also hails from Bermagui and her parents still live in town, so coming back to Bermagui was definitely a choice the pair.
"We applied for the position and it was a lifestyle choice," Senior Constable Bishop said.
"We want to become part of the community and get involved in all aspects of the town."
They bring with them their eight-year-old son and six-year-old daughter who both started school at Bermagui Public School last week.
Senior Constable Bishop started his police career in his home city of Sydney before moving to Batemans Bay seven years ago.
And it is a case of the two Dans being reunited as Dan Magrin has worked with Dan Bishop while undertaking Target Action Group duties in the Bay.
Senior Constable Magrin has already talked his new police partner into joining the Bermagui Surf Lifesaving Club and the new family was also looking at becoming involved in the local soccer club.
The husband and wife team said they were looking forward to a long career serving the towns of Bermagui and Narooma.
