THE old clock on top of the Narooma war memorial was removed on Thursday to make way for the new digital clocks.
Local electricians Paul White and Charlie Bettini assisted by Euroworks council workers unbolted and lifted off the old clock frame.
Mr White with the help of other local tradesmen is now working to restore the old clock frame and install four new digital clock faces that arrived last week from South Australia.
Unfortunately there is still a bit of work to do and the new clocks won’t be installed until after Rememberance Day on Wednesday, November 11.
Meanwhile, Narooma Returned and Services League secretary Dennis Meadowcroft is reporting two more donations this week
Thank-you to Boat and General Storage Narooma for its $300 and thank-you to Margaret Mashford and Len Owen for their $100 donation, he said.
This brings the donations so far to $4450.
The RSL branch has used its own funds to purchase the new digital clock with four faces worth around $9000 and expects to make up the shortfall with government grant funding.
The RSL decided to replace the old clock after it was vandalised again last year and had not worked since.
The new digital clocks were more affordable than a more traditional clock face, will be harder to vandalise, will be easier to maintain and update and also feature a temperature read-out.
