Sculpture springs up on Bermi headland

10 Mar, 2010 10:59 AM
THE Bermagui Sculpture on the Edge was launched in brisk conditions on Friday evening.

The larger sculptures on the headland and the smaller ones in the community centre will remain on display until Sunday and are well worth checking out with voting open in the people’s choice awards.

A limestone piece by Orange sculptor Senden Blackwood was judged to be the winning sculpture at the launch with one of the judges, renowned architect and Bermagui resident Philip Cox, purchasing it for his property.

The “Sculpture Controversy” symposium on Sunday was a huge success with the best turn out yet, excellent speakers, fabulous food and an attentive audience.

The open day at Philip Cox’s property has been postponed to Saturday, not Friday, because of the Cuttagee bridge repairs.

WAVE ON THE EDGE: The Sculpture on the Edge launch on Friday evening was brisk but thought provoking with sculptures of all shapes and sized dotting the Bermagui headland including one of Peter Beatle Collins' waves made out of fallen timber.
