Traditional boats afloat at Narooma

04 Nov, 2009 07:33 AM
ALL weekend - Friday to Sunday - traditional boat owners will descend on Narooma and Wagonga Inlet for the 4th Narooma Traditional "BoatsAfloat" Festival.

Organisers are hoping there will be even more than the 40 boats that participated last year.

For the boaties, it is all about enjoying hand-built or restored boats and sharing experiences with boating enthusiasts from all over the place.

The 2008 event went off smoothly with over 40 boats gathering on Narooma's Wagonga Inlet to enjoy a weekend messing around with boats.

Fun, friendship and serious nautical discussion were interspersed with cruising around the pristine waters, social gatherings, barbecues and a presentation dinner.

The wrap-up concluded that 2009 will be even bigger.

For the general public, the best thing to do is to make your way to the Mill Bay Boardwalk on Sunday, November 8 at around 10.45am to 11.30am to catch the "Grand Parade" where all participating boats will make their way down the channel, under the bridge and then parade along beside the boardwalk for the enjoyment of all!

The organisers thank our sponsors...Eurobodalla Tourism, Pelicans Marina and Cafe and Narooma Chamber of Commerce.

If you have a traditional boat, it's not too late to enter your boat... entry is free! Visit our website www.naroomaboatsafloat.com for details, pictures and contact information.
