ON Friday night, the Narooma Booma 'BadBad' Leroy Brown was successful in stopping Indonesia's number one contender Aswin Cabuy in the second round.
The fight was the Main Support Bout at the Nowra Entertainment Centre, ending early when Cabuy complained of an injured right hand, and wouldn't come out for the third round.
Interviewed centre ring, Brown said it was great to be back in the ring, he was disappointed he didn't get a few more rounds out, but that's the fight game.
Brown opened up Cabuy's right eye with a left hook in the second round, and Brown started working on the cut straight away.
With the blood streaming out of Cabuy's eye, Brown started punching a lot harder, as he felt he had the power to KO Cabuy, before the doctor could stop the fight.
Cabuy decided to quit on the stool.
It was a great night of fights with plenty of indigenous lads fighting on the under card, including former South Sydney's Joey Williams. '
The Man' Mundine was special guest, and called into the dressing room to chat with his friend Johnny Lewis, and wish Leroy the best in his bout.
Narooma Boxing Gyms Tommy Hofsteede had his second fight, but was unlucky this time. Tommy is only 16-years-old, a great prospect, and is coming along well.
A boxer, with very good boxing skills, we have told Tommy to keep his chin up, and he will learn a lot from the loss. He has a big future, and I am looking forward to see Tommy fight again in Bega on April 10.
As we go to press, Leroy has been asked to jump up a weight division, and fight for the NSW Super Middleweight Title this Friday against Daniel Pawsey at the Revesby Workers Club in Sydney.
Pawsey spruiking to the promoter, said he wanted to fight Brown, but Brown won't fight him, so he has his wish.
We are working through the contract now, and Brown is preparing to spoil Pawsey's party.
