Bodalla’s Step Back in Time festival: Gallery

ON Sunday the village of Bodalla celebrated a Step Back in Time with a variety of activities that included the official openings of the Ritchey Sealy Art Studio and the Bodalla Dairy Shed Cheese Factory; a bush ranger attack at the Bodalla Arms Hotel.

There were also market stalls at All Saint’s Church and a Narooma Woodies exhibition at the old Bodalla Public School.

The day was cram packed with activities that kept the tiny town busy for the entire day.

The Ritchey Sealy Art Studio was officially opened by the Member for Bega, the Hon. Andrew Constance followed an hour later by the official opening of the Bodalla Dairy Shed Cheese Factory by the mayor of the Eurobodalla Shire Lindsay Brown.

Markets stalls lined the drive under the shade of the old trees leading into All Saint’s Church while the Cobb and Co carriage pulled by two Clydesdale horses treated visitors to carriage rides on the church grounds.

The Bodalla Arms Hotel had live music all day, wood chopping exhibitions, a car boot sale and roast beef on the spit.

There were craft displays, a big display of Harley Davidson motor cycles, a maypole and jumping castle for the children at the Bodalla Dairy Shed and local horse breaker Wade Matthie was there riding his Brahma bull.

The event was organised by OAM Jennifer Butt and her husband Patrick and proprietor of the Bodalla Dairy Shed, Sandra McCuaig.

“It was surprisingly successful,” Sandra said.

“You never really know how these sort of things will turn out, until it happens.”

People were invited to come along in period dress which really added to the colour of the festival.

The general consensus of people that attended the affair was that they would like to see it become an annual event.

The Narooma News asked people at the festival what they thought of the event and whether it should happen every year?
