THE intrepid walker and former Narooma resident who goes by the name Benjamin Safari is at camel school.
Benjamin is walking around the Australian coastline, already making from Queensland border round to the SA-WA border.
He then walked from Perth back toward the border but now is hoping to use camels to finish the last leg from Esperance to WA-SA border.
“Now I’m learning how to be a cameleer and all about camels for the next and last leg of the walking journey,” Benjamin said.
“Been learning from a great camel guru, one of the best in Australia.
“He runs Shark Bay Camel Safaris. He doesn't harm the camels he trains, and doesn’t use nose pegs or beat them into submission.
“The way he teaches is more spiritual and that all living things are equal and that we all have the ability to connect with all animals, so some people would find hard to swallow but from what I’ve seen, it works and that’s what counts.”
