BEGA Valley Shire Council has announced details of an upcoming community forum to discuss the proposed Bermagui Woolworths development.
The forum, to be hosted by Bermagui Chamber of Commerce, is at 6pm on Wednesday, February 13 at the Bermagui Community Centre.
“This forum follows a move by Councillors to defer a decision on the proposed Woolworths development,” Planning and Environment Group Manager Andrew Woodley said.
“Councillors will now have the opportunity to talk with local residents about their concerns.
“It’s important to remember that a decision on this matter is yet to be made, and the views of residents and business owners attending the forum will be taken into consideration.”
The deferred decision agreed to by Council reads as follows:
8.1 Proposed Woolworths supermarket, Montague Street, Bermagui 4/13 resolved on the motion of councillors Fitzpatrick and Mawhinney.
1 That in accord with the Code of Meeting practice, the matter be deferred for further report on matters raised during deputations.
2 That Councillors attend a site inspection with staff.
3 That Councillors meet with community members for further feedback at a date and venue to be confirmed.
