Sandgrit – Narooma Surf Lifesaving Club

NEXT weekend there are back to back carnivals at Broulee Surfers SLSC with senior competition on Saturday, February 16 and the junior events following on Sunday.  We hope to have a few senior members compete on Saturday including our Boaties who look forward to having a lash. If the junior representation is anything like that of the Bermagui Carnival we should see plenty of red, white and black at Broulee.

Remember to bring your cap and wear plenty of sunscreen. We will have the Club marquee set up as a meeting point and base camp. Make sure you arrive by 8am for marshalling at 8.30am.

Under 6 and 7’s do not compete at carnivals but are more than welcome to come along to watch and cheer on Narooma. There will not be any Nippers at Main Beach in Narooma on this day.

The Nippers had a good day on Sunday preparing themselves for the upcoming carnival however the novelty tug-o-war event was most popular, at least for our girls, who over the morning managed to gain more wins than the boys!

Twilight Nippers and Sippers

The week after the carnival, a Twilight Nippers is planned for Sunday February 24. This means turn up at 2pm instead of the usual 9am. After the Nippers activities everyone is invited upstairs for a barbecue and salad dinner, kids disco inside (thanks to DJ Matt Rat) while parents can socialise on the deck. Refreshments available at the bar. Dinner $5 per head, under 5 years free. If you are able to help with the catering please speak to Matt Ratcliffe or Jane Rogerson.

Building Committee

A new sub-committee is being formed to focus on future building plans of the Surf Club. If anyone is interested in being involved, contact Ben Bate by phone or email.

Equipment Audit

The Club is conducting an audit of all equipment, including surfboards, ski’s and paddles. If you have any Surf Club property on loan, please return it to the clubhouse before February 24 so that we can get an accurate audit result.

IRB Crewperson Course

Another IRB Crewperson course is in March/April. Please contact Ben Bate if you are interested.

Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue Course

FSC Branch is running a second Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue Course on Saturday and Sunday, March  16 and 17 at Tathra SLSC. Pre-requisites and course overview available on the Training page of our website.
