ELECTRICITY UPGRADE: The second stage of the project is expected to start in May 2013 and involves upgrading the section of power line that spans across the Narooma Bridge.
ESSENTIAL Energy crews are set to begin a major electricity network upgrade in Narooma that will significantly improve the reliability and sustainability of the local power supply.
The project will involve the replacement of a number of power poles and upgrade of power lines along Hillcrest Avenue, across Narooma Bridge and into the main shopping precinct.
Several old wooden A-frame pole structures will be replaced with sturdier frames or single poles while the ageing steel power lines will be upgraded with higher capacity aluminium cable which is more resistant to corrosion caused by salty air.
Work is scheduled to begin in March.
Essential Energy advises that a number of planned power supply interruptions will be required to allow crews to complete the network upgrade safely. All affected customers will be notified in advance.
