Shooting for the stars

WRYLKA Colburn is a truly talented young soccer player from Bodalla who has set her goals high and is achieving real success.

Wrylka’s passion for soccer began while she was at Bodalla Public School and she’s been unstoppable since.

Playing at state level, the left footer has represented NSW against Western Australia where she scored three goals, two of them with her right foot.

The 15-year-old Carroll College student is now playing for Southern NSW under 16s.

Her proud grandmother Linda Colburn is one of her biggest fans and has contributed greatly to Wrylka’s success so far.

“She just loves what she’s doing,” Mrs Colburn said, “and it keeps her out of trouble.”

Wrylka is on the field every day and travels to Nowra twice a week for training and often competes in Sydney on weekends.

“We just need the funding to keep her going,” Mrs Colburn said.

Wrylka has a dream to attend the Australian Institute of Sport and even hopes for gold at the Olympics one day.

Wrylka is incredibly grateful for her supportive family, friends and organisations.

She recently received a donation from One Life Gym at Batemans Bay that helped out with a couple of trips, but more funding is needed.
