Greatest shave in memory of Travis

THE Narooma Golf Club is hosting a World’s Greatest Shave event at the club on Saturday afternoon.

Organiser and club receptionist Danielle Scheibel is organising the event on March 16 in memory of her partner Travis Smith, who lost his battle with leukaemia in 2010.

Danielle said Travis grew up in Narooma playing footy for the Devils and was a fit, healthy young man, who died at the young age of 21.

“He was in the Army and was super-fit, but it just got him,” she said.

About a dozen people are participating either going the full shave or cutting off some of their locks including Danielle and some of her club co-workers, Michael Stokes from the Brasserie, who has apparently been growing out his hair especially, as well as Travis’ mother Pamm Smith and sister Brodie Smith.

The shave will be starting at 4pm on Saturday, making it a family-friendly event.

Chef Michael will also be making finger food for the event and the golf club is supplying one its function rooms.

Come along on Saturday to participate in the fun or donations can be made to the Leukaemia Foundation World’s Greatest Shave online or by dropping some dollars in the tin at the golf club right now.
