EARLY last year Narooma Plaza and National Parks and Wildlife ran a competition to win a two night stay on Montague Island for 10 people. The competition entries were collated from those who had won a $50 Plaza voucher for having the “Narooma, how life should be” sticker on your car. Lucky competition winner, Jess Loudoun, recently took her trip with nine local friends.
Jess said her “weekend on the Island with friends was up there with the best times of my life.”
“We were taken out on Wazza’s Lighthouse Charter boat and began the trip with an escort by a pod of dolphins!
“We stayed in the beautifully restored home on the island, snorkelled with the seals, explored the Island by foot and experienced the spectacular views from the top of the lighthouse.
“Field officers, Jim and Ian, were extremely welcoming and shared their wealth of knowledge with us. We learnt the aboriginal stories about the Island and realised there is truly something magical and rich about it. “It’s certainly a jewel that everyone (especially locals) should experience and all of us will be doing it again!” she said.
“We cannot thank the Narooma Plaza and NPWS enough for funding the trip for us all.”
