THE new bar at The Dromedary Hotel, Central Tilba is a return to the layout of more than 40 years ago.
Publicans Maz and Mick Youlten with the help of local tradesman Kev Hayden this month replaced the bar as part of an upgrade that has also seen a new beer system installed.
The old fake panelling has been removed revealing the original planking underneath.
And a photo on the wall shows that the new layout is a return to the old.
Scott Elton and his uncle Garry Whiffen were there the night when Maz celebrated her birthday earlier this month and the new bar and taps were first used.
In that photo is Scott’s grandfather and Garry’s father, Jack Whiffen who is pictured with fellow drinkers Frank Riley, Vin Harper and Guy Travis and bar tender Rod McNeill.
Jack bought the farm where Whiffen Lane currently runs after World War II and Garry reckons the photo was taken around 40 years ago, with his early memories including Frank Riley delivering firewood to their house.
The Drom and Maz continue to be great supporters of live music with another gig this Sunday being country rock artist Stephanie Jansen starting at 5.30pm.
