SATURDAY was the beginning of the Club’s Minor Singles Championship, with eight player’s competition. The draw consisted of Joe Cremona up against Alan McLeod, while Ben Hewison played Ron Cox and Ken Drew played Andrew Farrington and the last game saw Jim Newman up against Blaze Madden.
The games had mixed results with Alan winning 31 to 15 against Joe, Jim won 31 to 24, Andrew won 31 to 15. However, the best game of the day was Ron Cox playing Ben Hewison, it was a game between Ron a young 77-year-old and Ben a younger 32. Ben has only played a hand full of games since moving Tuross about four years ago. The game was close for the entire 39 ends which took three and half hours to play, with only a couple of bowls between the leader and the opposition. However, on the 39 end Ben took the game 32 to 26. It was a good effort on the part of both players.
