THE Southern Eurobodalla Cricket Club (SECC) got off to a positive start last Sunday at the first official training session for the season. Despite it being Fathers' Day and a couple of winter sports still playing finals, attendance at training was encouraging with players coming from Broulee, Tuross, Bodalla and the Narooma / Dalmeny area.
The SECC has nominated three senior grades in the Far South Coast Cricket Association for this season and at this stage interest seems to be high from players in the region. However, in order for these nominations to be confirmed, intending players need to either attend training or at least make their intentions known in the next two weeks by contacting the secretary on 4476 1441. All levels of ability can be catered for and all required equipment is supplied, so in this Ashes year, come and give it a go.
The SECC is also fielding two junior (Under 14) teams in the FSCCA. Boyd Brennan is continuing his long association with junior cricket in the Eurobodalla as the club's Junior Coordinator and coach. He will be assisted by senior coach, Frank Caruana. Also, any parents who would like to be a part of their child's involvement in cricket, especially on game days, would be most welcome. The cricket club will be having a couple of tutorial sessions on scoring and umpiring for interested parents (no previous experience needed).
For the next three weeks, registration and training is at Dalmeny oval on Sunday mornings. Junior training will start at 10am, followed by the seniors at 11am. When daylight savings begins, training is on a week night to be determined.
For enquiries or more details, do not hesitate to contact the Secretary on 4476 1441.
