NRMA Insurance has announced the NSW SES Bermagui Unit as a recipient of a 2013 NRMA Insurance Community Connect grant.
The initiative, developed in partnership with the NSW State Emergency Service, has been designed to help local units educate their communities in preparing for and limiting preventable damage from storms, floods and tsunami by providing grants to support local engagement activities. Since the program’s inception two years ago more than $110,000 has been granted to NSW SES units state-wide.
The Bermagui Unit is one of 32 NSW SES units across the state to get a boost for their local community engagement initiatives. The unit will use their grant to purchase a high profile marquee to increase visibility of the unit at local community events. This year NSW SES Bermagui volunteers want to focus on visitors to the region, sharing information on where to get storm safety information and how to act in the event severe weather strikes.
