A LARGE number of men, ladies and junior players from a wide area in NSW and interstate have just enjoyed a fantastic “Week of Golf” at Bermagui Country Club.
The hugely successful event started with the Ladies Open on the September 14 and 15 and ended with the Men’s Open on Saturday and Sunday, September 21 and 22.
There were record fields on both days of the Men's Open with some 33 different golf clubs represented. The daily competitions were also well supported by record field numbers and the various sponsors.
Apart from the rain cancelling Tuesday's competition the weather was generally good and the Bermagui Course was as challenging as ever for the golfers. Everyone appeared to have a great time both out on the course and at the presentation times in the clubhouse.
The Men’s 36 hole Open was won by Mitchell Venables of Bermagui Golf Club playing off a handicap of + 2 with an amazing score of 135. This is the second year in a row that Mitchell has won the Open and this year on day two he shot a course record of 66 off the stick.
Another great performance came from runner up Nicholas Crundall of Pambula-Merimbula Golf Club with a score of 144 playing off a handicap of 2.
Bermagui Country Club's Men's and Ladies Golf committees extend a big “thank you” to all of the sponsors for the Week of Golf – we appreciate the support provided for this annual event and hope that we can continue our excellent relationship.
