Dr Jenny Wray of the Lighthouse Surgery has been named as one of the 17 finalists for the 2013 Telstra New South Wales Business Women’s Awards.
Dr Wray has been named a finalist by Telstra in the Business Owner Award section.
“Participation in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards has been rewarding and to be named a finalist is amazing!” she said.
“My focus is general practice, my community and mentoring our young people especially the next generation of doctors.”
Earlier this year she was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List and back in 2011 she was rewarded for her dedication when named the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners GP of the Year.
Dr Wray is the proprietor and principal doctor at Narooma’s Lighthouse Surgery and also the impetus behind the opening of the Bermagui Medical Centre in 2011.
She began working as a GP in Narooma in 1977 and has dedicated over 30 years to general practice, both treating patients and taking a lead role in educating and mentoring medical students and registrars.
Kate McKenzie, group managing director Telstra Innovation, Products and Marketing and ambassador of the Telstra Business Women’s Awards, said the awards celebrated the hard work and determination of business women in New South Wales.
“For 19 years we’ve run the Awards to inspire leading business women to realise their potential and celebrate their success,” Ms McKenzie said.
“We believe the 2013 New South Wales finalists are entrepreneurs, innovators and managers who can inspire our nation and the following generation.”
CommBank’s Women in Focus program, which opens doors to opportunity for women across Australia, is an Official Partner of the Telstra Business Women’s Awards.
