A SNORKELER on Saturday found what appears to be a section of a sawn-off firearm in 3 metres of water off Billy’s Beach between Mystery Bay and Corunna Head.
Corrosion had only just started on the rifle section, meaning it could have been tossed into the sea recently.

WHALE watchers on the Bermagui headland called police when they saw what they thought was a large trawler steam toward and possibly over a mother whale and calf at 4.15pm on Sunday.
Police spoke to the skipper who said he had been sailing past whales all day but he did not see the whale off the headland and it could have been a trick of perspective.
There is a 300-metre exclusion zone around mother whales and their calves.
A MEN’S mountain bike found at Apex Park, Narooma on Sunday has been turned into Narooma police and can be picked up by its owner.
