THE Animal Welfare League and RSPCA want to know if your Bushfire Survival Plan is ready and whether it includes your pets.
Lauren and Shaylee Henry of Kianga at Narooma along with their much loved pets, little Curly and Penny have their plan ready should they ever be in the dreadful situation that so many people across NSW are finding themselves in now.
Lauren and Shaylee have a “Pet To Go” box prepared with all of the essential items their pets will need in case of an evacuation - dry food, dog treats, water, drinking bowl, leads and a small blanket.
If you haven’t prepared your Bush Fire Survival Plan yet please contact your local RFS members, or ring 1800 679 737, or email www.rfs.nsw.gov.au to obtain a copy and get ready now!
AWL Eurobodalla branch spokeswoman Lynda Ord said when you’re completing your plan, please don’t forget your pets.
Perhaps you can prepare a “Pet to Go” box for your pets and keep any crates or carry packs close at hand and easy to reach.
Everything you do now to be better prepared, will help ease your anxiety and stress if the worst should ever happen.
This information is provided by the Animal Welfare League, Eurobodalla Branch and the Eurobodalla Branch of the RSPCA as a community service.
“We thank all the professional and volunteer firefighters for the wonderful job they do to keep us safe,” Lynda said.
“We believe the best way we can support them is to be prepared.
“We are also proud of the work being done to support the communities in need in this bushfire crisis by the Animal Welfare League, NSW and the RSPCA, NSW.
“Our thoughts and sympathies are with the people affected by the fires at this time.”
