OVER the last two weeks students from local primary schools have been participating in a 10 day Learn to Swim program. Central Tilba Public School had 25 students participate in this valuable program this year, with students from Kindergarten to Year Five travelling into Narooma Pool each day by bus. The program aims to make all children competent in swimming 25 metres freestyle unaided. The program is a vital one given the amount of water and climate we experience on the south coast.
At Central Tilba, the P&C Association has kindly assisted with the cost of the bus, making it an affordable program well within the reach of most students. The school is also able to subsidise those who have difficulty in meeting the pool entry costs.
The children all enjoyed their 10 day program, although many tired by the end of it. The school would like to thank Mr Markham, who took the students in each day, the parents who helped with supervision and the P&C for their ongoing support of the learning needs of each child.
