He started his adventure of walking from Sydney to Perth several years ago spending time in Torquay and Port Lincoln to earn money to continue his mission.
He made it as far as the Great Australian Bight near Ceduna before taking a longer break and hanging out in Canberra with his mum.
But now he is at it again!
“Walking from Sydney to Perth along the coastline for a long time I only thought of it in a linear fashion,” Benjamin said.
“I decided to start this leg leaving from Perth on February 24 walking backwards so to speak to the WA/SA border where I had last finished up. “For many reasons the main one being the predominate weather comes from
the south west during the winter here, so tail wind makes for light waking as opposed to a head wind, carrying a surf board can be hell in a head wind…
“During February most days were above 30 degrees and many being 38- 40 degrees , I would wake at 3am to walking in the cool dark of early mornings and rest during the hottest part of the day still drinking 6lt of water a day.
“Now after 2 months and a bit of walking I find myself in Albany the weather has cooled the days are shorter and winter is coming the rain has started with few sunny days here and there
“Currently I'm having rest days as the 50kg of assorted camping/camera/surfing gear is wearing me out a little, I’m getting sore knees and that's not so good when I have a couple thousand kilometres left to go!
“The west coast has been amazing so far and I think it will only get better, I’m really excited to see the coast from Esperance east to the SA border as it will be the most remote part of the entire expedition.”
On May 23, Benjamin posted on his Facebook page:
“Been sleeping under the stars and walking for 3 months today!”
And just a couple of weeks before:
“Every day for the last 2 and a half months you go to work, hang with your friends, drive your car, I’ve been walking the whole time!”
