Dalmeny holiday resident Jane Robertson had a quick chat with the man but didn’t fully catch his name, which she thinks might be “Shannon”.
Jane has been holidaying in Dalmeny every year since 1964 but joked that did not make her a “Dalmeny local”.
She met the kayaker at the Dalmeny boat ramp and then photographed him as he sailed around to Wagonga Inlet to spend the night.
He told her he had overnighted in other river systems including the Shoalhaven.
His kayak looks to be a Hobie Adventure Island model complete with sail.
A Melbourne resident, he told Jane he bought the kayak in Wollongong, and was heading for Eden.
He was to leave the kayak in Eden to return to Sydney collect his car and come back for kayak.
Jane and the Narooma News would love to find out the identity of the mystery kayaker and perhaps speak to him about his trip in more detail.
Marine Rescue Narooma has no record of a kayak on its log book for that time.
Perhaps he will read this online report and get in touch!
