A long line of kids and adults, many with signs, quickly formed at the Sunrise ice-cream truck, which was parked right on the foreshore at the Big4 Narooma Easts Holiday Park.

The Narooma Numnutz winter swimming club were first up to be interviewed by Eddie and swimmer Scotty Cavanagh drew the short straw to do the talking.

She and Scotty went over the club’s results at the Winter Swimming Association of Australia annual championships, mostly coming last except this year at Perth, and also asking about other clubs with funny names, including the Bermagui Blue Balls.

The Numnutz were just disappointed they weren’t asked to get out in the water in their Speedos.

Eddie crossed several times live to Sunrise host Kochie and the crew in the studio, at one point gathering everyone out on the sand flats and then having them all rush back to collect their shoes.

The Narooma Blue Water Dragons also took an opportunity to get a photo with Edwina in their dragon boating uniforms.

It’s been a long road for Eddie and her crew who have been on the road with the ice-cream truck since the start of the school holidays.

The last live cross from NSW will be from Merimbula tomorrow, Friday, and then it was onto Victoria and Lakes Entrance, Inverloch, Geelong and Sorrento to finish up.

“We weren’t going to come to Narooma but there was a great response on Facebook and then of course there were the Numnutz,” Eddie said.

“It’s lovely here and we’d love to come back and spend some more time here.”

Destination NSW had helped with the trip but she said she and the crew chose the locations  based on the best backdrop and the Narooma caravan park was ideal, with a captive audience of guests were keen to be on TV.

This was not her first visit to the area as Sunrise did the weather from Montague Island back in July last year and Eddie had a great time exploring the island.

It was then she first heard about the Numnutz and was reminded of the club after meeting the Harbord Frigid Frogs winter swimmers on this latest trip.

Eddie herself prepared and served the soft serve ice-creams, which by all accounts were very tasty, and she promised the crowd that no-one would miss out.

She did ask for a gold coin donation and reckoned she had served more than 4000 ice-creams, raising more than $7000 for three charities: Tour de Cure that fellow host Mark “Berets” Beretta does each year, Buy a Bale for farmer relief and Wandering Warriors SAS soldiers.

After the show, it was time to pack and get back on the road, although she joked the truck could only do 80km/h, so it was a slow trip with plenty of time to take in the scenery.
