TAI Chi for Arthritis classes will restart in the Eurobodalla Shire in the first week of February and this year they have new classes in Tuross as well as Moruya. New and existing leaders were trained in Tai Chi for Arthritis in August last year and have been building the number of classes across Eurobodalla Shire. The Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) initiative aims is to increase access to appropriate physical activity opportunities for older adults living in rural communities.
This low cost program is delivered by trained volunteers to offer gentle exercise for older adults to improve their physical, social and mental wellbeing.
Six leaders have all offered classes in the local Eurobodalla Shire on a not-for-profit basis for many years, but this year there is an increase the classes across the shire.
The classes are ideal for people who have always thought about getting involved in gentle exercise, but have never got around to doing it. Tai Chi is excellent for increasing balance and flexibility, strength and fitness and they are excited to offer this opportunity to help older people have fun, be fit and get healthy.
The cost to participants is a small donation for the class to cover costs associated with running the group.
