North Narooma resident Roger Smyth has been in touch with the ABC complaining of deteriorating TV reception. Roger was informed by the ABC, “The ABC Narooma transmitter is operating to specification and not having problems broadcasting that we are aware of”.
Roger was advised to try a “restore and rescan” of his equipment as he may have some data corruption that is causing the reception to be out of synch.
Additionally the ABC recommended Roger follow the equipment manual instructions to restore the factory or default settings to eliminate any corruption in the data stream.
If the antenna was more than about 10-years-old the ABC recommended consultation with an antenna installer to improve reception. Roger was informed, “It's possible to have reception from some channels but not others if even one part of the antenna isn't working”.
Roger was told that if his neighbours experience the same problems they can contact ABC Reception Advice on 1300 13 9994 so that the ABC can notify the service providers.
The ABC requires three confirmed reports of the same issue in order to undertake a more thorough investigation.
