THE Narooma Devil’s Rugby League Club is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2012 with a huge event this Saturday night at O’Briens Hotel from 6pm.

The Club is combining the 80th anniversary with the club’s annual presentation night when player achievements are recognised for the season proper.
The club’s focus is still firmly on the finals to be played out in the coming weeks. The first grade club is in second position heading into the finals and the ladies league tag team, who have also had a great year, have made it through to the first semi-final.
The Devils are drumming up support from the town starting with the gala function on Saturday. Friends, family and supporters are all welcome.
“The Devils would love to see everyone come and celebrate our 80th year and presentation night,” club president Jaimie Wright said.
Jaimie is proud of the player’s commitment and on-field sportsmanship this year and he is hoping for a ripper night out before the Devils continue their march to the grand final.
The legendary Cameron Rowley will MC the night and will promote involvement of players both young and old. Cameron will auction off a bunch of memorabilia and other items.
Speaking on the night will be Devils life member Bob Bennett and former NRL Raiders player David Boyle who coached the Narooma lads through three consecutive premierships from 2003.
The dress code is semi-formal and there will be a band to keep the night alive after the three-course meal provided by the Raw Prawn Bistro.

U16's V Bega
AN away game against Bega was always going to be tough. Bega ran with the aid of a strong wind in the first half and scored an early conversion try after a mistake by the devils while in possession.
The devils defended strongly but rarely made it to Bega’s half. Half time score was 6-0 to Bega.
Good defence from Bega in the second half shut the Devils attack down and the Devils lost possession a few times when the breaks were made.
Against the run of play a sloppy pass from the devils when a try was on, resulted in an intercept, which turned into a Bega try.
Another try on the full-time hooter resulted in a 16-0 score line to Bega.
A strong all round effort by all players with many in line for players’ player, but centre Trey Parsons had a great return to form to get the award narrowly from front rower Warren Foster who made numerous breaks in attack and some great defence rocked Bega's form
