Members of the Bermagui chapter of the Cancer Research Advocate Bikers (CRABS) at the scene have implored all drivers to be bike aware and always be on the lookout for motorcycles.
The 54-year-old woman was riding her Honda road bike alone north on Wallaga Lake Road just before 4pm when she collided with a car being driven by another local.
The car was pulling out of Bermagui Cobargo Road when the collision occurred, which was strong enough to break windows in the car.
A spokeswoman for Snowy Hydro Southcare confirmed the bike rider was taken by road ambulance to Bega Hospital and then airlifted to The Canberra Hospital.
CRABS members on scene to recover the bike said accidents had occurred at the intersection before and said bike awareness for car drivers was important at all times.
Police from Narooma remained on the scene.
UPDATE: CRABs members on Wednesday morning say the rider is on hospital with non-life threatening injuries receiving treatment and she may need an operation.
"The latest is that she has broken two ribs, finger needs an operation. She wants to come home but they are keeping her in for two days. The feeling is she is very lucky."
