THE Montague Arts and Crafts Society on Friday evening opened and named the winners at its annual Easter Exhibition held at Narooma High School.

This was the 33rd MACS Open Easter Exhibition, with the event becoming an institution at Narooma over the Easter weekend.
Judges Jenny Noyes from Bairnsdale and Ray Barnett of Canberra announced the winners at the Montague Arts and Crafts Society Easter Exhibition. Local Colin Pass was the other judge.
The big winner on the night was Nicky Hall originally of Narooma now of Wolumla, who was named Best in Exhibition with her pastel of Wallagoot Beach.
She is also the owner of Valley Art in Bega.
Another perennial winner at the exhibiton Narooma artist Margaret Moran was another big winner winning two divisions, including her Mixed Media painting of a scene on Wagonga Inlet entitled “Backwater”.
Winner of Best Acrylic was Janece Huntley of Narooma with her “Narooma Reflections”.
Winner of the Best Recycled work was Bill Shaw of Wallaga Lake with his “Snapper” creation made out steel from of a caravan gas bottle and Cyprus wooden flooring.
Alison Bridle of Akolele won the Digital division with her creation “Boy” that she created on her digital pad.
Rosy Williams of Narooma was awarded Best Photograph for her work “Mangrove Dancer” taken on Wagonga Inlet.
Heather May of Narooma won the Fibre/Wearable Art division her scarf named “Mother Earth.”
Former Narooma High School student Katey Baddeley, who graduated in 2008 returned with several artworks, including a striking Mixed Work of racing trainer Gai Waterhouse.
Katey is making a name for herself in the Canberra art world where she has already had one solo show and is selling her work.
Not present at the opening night was Bodalla artist Ritchey Sealy, who had two oil paintings entered, one of which won that division.
He was spotted on Narooma surf beach last week doing a painting of Montague Island and will be giving art classes at scenic locations around the district.
The Montague Arts and Crafts Society Easter Exhibition continues at Narooma High School all Easter weekend, while there is another MACS show at the Narooma SoArt Gallery open until April 22.
