Park designer Simon Bogalo showed the skaters the plans his company Convic had developed with the expansion consisting of “street” style features such as a manual pad, quarter pipe, flat bank and Euro pipe.
Long-term skate park advocate Tyron Zammit said some of the older skaters had wanted more ramp and bowl features, but it was the younger skaters that were consulted and the new features would make the park more accessible.
Also present were deputy mayor Neil Burnside and council youth committee member Ben Potter.
Final design will be completed next month and construction could begin as soon as July was the job was tendered out.
