IT was interesting to be a fly-on-the-wall during last Thursday’s special meeting about saving the Club Dalmeny bowling greens.

Let’s hope that the sub-clubs and bowlers can get together with the Narooma Sporting and Services board of directors to come up with a viable solution.
Clubs like the one at Dalmeny are the lifeblood of the community providing a venue for friends and family to come together close to home.
But as was suggested at the meeting by both club members and the board, more can be done to make the venue even more inviting and welcoming to the community.
Hopefully people who have not been to the club in the past might be encouraged to attend if the building is renovated and new attractions such as a play area are added.
But at the same time, it’s the bowlers, social and competitive, and the other regular club users such as the fishing club that must take ownership in the club and help it succeed into the future.
Finally, it was great to put together the feature on the Quota ladies and their big conference on this weekend.
After reporting on the new OAMs last week, it again reminded me of all the good works that volunteers such as the Quota ladies do for the community.
