The 98kg yellowfin was caught on 15kg line after a 2.45-hour battle on a Rapala X-Rap lure on the charter boat Playstation.
Skipper Nick Cowley said it was a group effort but one guy was mainly on the rod. It’s a big group of guys from all over Australia to fish here for two days and they booked both Charter Fish Narooma boats, Playstation and Nitro.
“Pretty stoked to get it on my charter. It is a fish of a lifetime! There hasn't been a yellowfin this size caught for many years on a recreational or charter boat.”
The Australian record yellowfin is 124kg.
The boys then had a great time on Sunday getting into the kingfish at Montague Island.
They all stayed at the Holiday Lodge at Narooma and their excitement was passed on to the owners who posted this on their Facebook:
"Wow We have had an awesome weekend here at Holiday Lodge with a group of longtime mates here for a Fishing Weekend on Playstation and Nitro!!
