The Narooma Numnutz winter swimmers for their eight swim of the season decided to take on the sometime treacherous Narooma bar crossing for their weekly swim on Sunday.
There were 19 swimmers including four youngsters paddling on boards and the water was still a pleasant 17 degrees.
Swimming the bar on an incoming tide actually takes very little effort as the swimmers are swept out swiftly with riptide along the northern breakwater and then effectively get sucked in through the mouth of the inlet entrance.
The swimmers then retired to the warm fire of O’Briens Hotel and hearty beef and mushroom soup prepared by Scotty Cavanagh from the Raw Prawn Bistro.
The Narooma winter swimmers meet at the far end of Bar Beach every Sunday at 9am and swimmers of all shapes, sizes and ages are most welcome.
