Local author of the Rest Easy Journal, Shanna Provost, will run a 'Dying to Know' workshop at Club Narooma to open up local discussion on the topic and link Narooma into the national D2K Day activities.

“Only 5 per cent of Australians will make a plan for their end of life, and only half of us get to die in our preferred place,” Shanna said. “More alarmingly, 45 per cent of Australians will die without a Will. I have seen how this fear of talking about and planning for the inevitable puts strain on families who are already grieving.”

Shanna said that the fact there was a National Day that focuses on this topic reflects the changing attitude towards death and dying in Australia.

“People my generation want to know what their options are and want to have an influence not only on how their funeral runs, but also on their health choices for the end of their life,” she said.

“Unfortunately, people don't know what they don't know, so I wrote the Rest Easy Journal to walk them through the process.”

Everyone who wants to learn about their options around end of life and those who just want to be in a safe place to discuss their feelings, fears and wishes should attend.

The 'Dying To Know' workshop will provide information on local funeral/memorial options; how to access information about funerals, Advance Care Directives, write eulogies, access local services for caregivers and much, much more.
