On Ms Drury’s 70th birthday, August 3, she will set off on a two-week cycle travelling solo 860km across the Nullarbor Plain.
She is doing so in an attempt to raise funds for the establishment and landscaping of a Sensory Garden at Nardy House.
A resident of Bermagui, Ms Drury is hoping the local and broader community will support the ride by making a donation to Nardy House.
Nardy House is specifically designed to meet the needs of people with profound physical disabilities who require 24-hour care often with medical support.
It provides a home base that is designed to maximise the potential of each resident.
Residents interact with their local community thereby promoting and enhancing the role of people with disabilities.
Ms Drury has cycled all her life and said “if I can in some way help the great work that Nardy House does by just riding my bike then it’s all good” (BDN, 11/7).
She will be supported by driver Dave Bulman, who will follow her across the Nullarbor.
Donations can be made either by mail to Nardy House, P.O. Box 387, Bega 2550, calling the house on 64938228, or by visiting the website at www.nardyhouse.org.au.
All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
