Narooma Golf Club bridge repairs to begin soon

NAROOMA Golf Club representatives met with State Member Andrew Constance on Friday in attempt to garner more funds for repairs to the damaged pedestrian bridge on the golf course.

A main beam under the bridge collapsed last month, blocking off access to the back nine holes.

The meetings with Mr Constance follow meetings the previous week with Eurobodalla Shire Council to discuss repairs to the broken bridge over the Little Lake estuary.

General manager Dominic Connaughton said local golfers were happy to double up on the front nine, but there had already been cancellations from visiting golfer who want to play the entire course.

He said council appreciated the impact on tourism and the Narooma economy and was making the repairs a priority with work due to begin soon and possibly take about three weeks.

“Council realises the impact on tourism and the town,” he said.

Similarly, he said Mr Constance was sympathetic to the need to repair the bridge as soon as possible, he said.

The two bridges at Little Lake were on crown land but maintenance was the responsibility of the golf club.
