On Friday evening, I spotted a large passenger style ship cruising past Montague Island quite visible on the horizon. A quick check of the vessel tracker revealed it was the Spirit of Tasmania 2 ferry, which begged the question: what was it doing up this way as the Sydney run was abandoned some years ago?

Well through the wonders of social media and a Tweet to Spirit of Tasmania, the company tweeted back the ferry had been in Sydney for a dry-dock service! Mystery solved...
We also received feedback on the Narooma News Facebook page including from Norm Ingersole who also had the answer, while Dean Marchini said he saw it in Sydney harbour from his Navy work yard at Watsons Bay.
