First grade
First Grade lost badly to the tune of 42-6. We began well and looked like a tough game as was last time we met at Narooma, and for 20mins it seesawed with no score.
We had three regular players out, with injuries, and some played with injuries and flu, so we can still do it in two weeks’ time.
Moruya were first to score 6-Nil. Tyler Hextell played the game of his life even with a injury, Steven Brown played hard, good pass to Todd Wright and then to Todd Ayres, but try not to be.
At 30mins Narooma kept pressing, then Riley Hextell scored Moruya 10-6. Moruya scored again just before half time scores Moruya 16 Narooma 6.
The boys dug deep, Ayrsey lead the boys with strong runs, Riley and Booga good tackling, but not quite good enough and Moruya scored 20-6 to Moruya. Kyle Burnell was blitzing them up the centre also with injury. Tyler was also injured again but kept on playing.
At 70min in Narooma was attacking but Moruya somehow got the ball and scored a runaway try Moruya 26-6, 2mins later another try to Moruya 32-6 the gates had opened for Moruya two last minute tries the final score 42-6. Such a different game to our last winning games, we will have to get back to the drawing board. Injuries our biggest worry, but we have the bye next week.
Best and fairest: 3 points Tyler Hextell 2 Kyle Burnell 1 Riley Hextell.

Narooma Devilletes into semi-finals with big upset
THE Narooma “Devilletes” travelled to Moruya on Sunday where they played the heavily favoured Moruya girls, who they have not been able to beat all year.
With a semi-final spot on the line the girls put in a huge effort. The first half was a real arm wrestle, but the girls stuck to the game plan, built pressure, and were 4 nil up at the break.
With only one reserve the second half, the display by the girls was easily the best effort they have put together this year.
Completion rates over 80 per cent, controlled aggression, solid defence and some individual brilliance from Jamie Anne and Kirra, who scored two tries each, saw us home 18 nil in a big upset.
Karly, Danielle and Ash all had big games, but it was the team effort that brought them home, as most of the girls had injuries and or the flu. Well done.
Semi finals coming up, and a bit of self-belief will see us giving the comp a real shake. Points: Jamie Anne 3, Kirra 2, Danielle 1. Coach’s award Ash.
