The Lions were no match for last year’s premiership team Tathra, although the Lions never gave up the Tathra side ran out comfortable winners. Tathra 28.11=179 to Narooma 14.13=97
Luke Talty had a great game for the Lions winning many possessions and kicking four goals, Alexander Jones, Joe Nugent, Tom Clarke, Will Farrell and Jason Sauiluma all tried hard for the Narooma team.
In the U16s game, the Lions ran out big winners against Merimbula. The Merimbula side were missing a few of their star players. When these two sides meet in the finals it could be a different story. It was hard to pick the best players for this game because of the many interchanges; it was a good team effort. Narooma 11.9=75 to Merimbula 4.9=33.
The Narooma U13s side player Bega at Bega in one of the best games of the year, although the Lions were just beaten coach Peter Hodge is confident that when these two sides play again this Sunday at Tathra in the finals the result will favour Narooma.
T Hodge, Z Betts, L Brennan and R Spurgeon all played well.
The winner of the Narooma supporters club $5000 was a young lady who has just moved to Narooma, well done Jess Konstanidis. The club would like to thank all business and the people who supported the club by buying a ticket.
The Narooma Lions presentation night for the U13s, U16s and senior team is on Friday, September 19 at 6pm at the Narooma Golf Club. Please keep this date free.
