Straight after the hair cut, she was off with her new husband Cody on their honeymoon to America and then a Pacific cruise.
Sam and Cody were married at the Homestead at Brogo on Saturday followed by reception at the Bermagui Country Club.
Attending the wedding was her friend and workmate at council Jess Bourke who initiated the “I will survive…” campaign after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
She pledged to cut her hair to help raise funds and the wedding guests pitched in $220 while a collection tin at work had yet to be cut open.
“I wanted to do this for Jess but decided to wait until after the wedding before cutting off my hair,” Sam said.
Jess and her band of fundraisers plan to be at the Narooma Blues Festival on Sunday and have been working with Neil Mumme to get some of the female musicians to help with the fundraising.
Her friend Amy-Lee Negus meanwhile plans to shave her head to help raise funds for the cause.
“I will survive…” will culminate with a big family day at Club Narooma on Saturday, October 18 with raffles, entertainment for the kids and lots more.
Many businesses from Narooma to Tilba to Bermagui had already agreed to donate items to the big day.
The campaign is raising funds for the Breast Cancer Network Australia and National Breast Cancer Foundation.
