Elected unopposed was new president Geoff Lanham who has lifelong connections to the club dating back to diving for golf balls off the Narooma cliffs in his younger days.
Most recently Lanham was club treasurer involved in negotiations with local member and State Treasurer Andrew Constance to secure funding for to replace the first bridge over Little Lake.
Now that the second bridge was repaired with the assistance of Eurobodalla Shire Council, the board is agreed the second bridge is the major priority.
Lanham is determined the club not go back into debt and so the club is open to ways to raise the estimated $150,000 for the project from already applying for the State community development grant to even seeking donations.
Another priority is to keep the members out on the course with one option being to offer shorter options over the long water hazard holes while not compromising the challenging nature of the course.
“We’ve got one of the top 100 golf courses in Australia, we’ve got a world-class pro shop with technology second to none and we have a great clubhouse with a great restaurant and function facilities,” Lanham said.
“We want to encourage more visitors to come to Narooma and the members to get out there and play more golf.”
All the new board members are long-term and active golfers including the new junior vice president Phil Haynes, who will also taking a particular interest in the finances.
“ We all have an active interest in the club doing well and continue being the main attraction for the district and visitors,” he said.
