Chamber of commerce president Orit Karny Winters continues to meet with growers to work out ways of improving next year’s festival.
The festival needs a new injection of volunteers to help organise and plan the event and Karny Winters is keen to hear from anyone interested in getting involved. She can be contacted on 0402 866 441.
The growers at Narooma meanwhile have had an excellent winter season escaping the heavy rain experienced up at the Shoalhaven.
Grower David Maidment said the oysters were currently in excellent condition calling them “fat winter oysters”.
Problems with viruses that had shut down the industry north of Sydney meant there was great demand for locally grown Sydney rock oysters, however that had unfortunately not translated into higher prices.
