So begins the media release aimed at the rest of Australia.
Here in Narooma, we know we are not that “sleepy”, especially not festival founder and promoter Neil Mumme who is hunkered down at his Blues central office feverishly organising every last detail.
But back to the press release…
The three day event at Smyth Oval from October 3-5, which draws more than 15,000 people to the town, has grown significantly since its first date in 1996 and shows no signs of slowing down.
Featuring more than 40 artists and bands from around Australia and the world, the festival injects an estimated $8 million into the Narooma economy and marks the beginning of the summer tourist season in the region. Traditionally, the festival’s audiences have travelled from different parts of Australia, New Zealand and America to enjoy some of the world’s best blues music.
Neil Mumme says this year’s event is expected to top all expectations for blues lovers with some obscure music adding to the variety on offer from a wealth of incredible artists.
“We are building what we believe will be one of the best festival line-ups in Australia this year for people who love their blues,” he said. This year we guarantee to ‘Get Your Mojo Working’ like it never has before.”
Among the line-up hitting the dual stages is The 3 Wise Men formed by legendary guitarists Kevin Borich, Mal Eastick and Phil Manning.
They will be well matched by the Big Bad Blues Babes of Kerri Simpson, Vika Bull and Kylie Auldist.
International artists include Phil Wiggins, Sandi Thom, Mitch Woods and fDeluxe.
Over the years, the festival has also raised funds for charities including Telstra Child Flight, the Dalmeny-Kianga-Narooma Cycleway Project and local Rotary and service clubs.
General advance tickets, including single day and weekend packages, are now on sale, including at Narooma Picture Framing on the Flat.
