THE Bowlo Fishing club fishing comp was held over the weekend with Sunday being picture perfect for all the dads who were treated like kings for the day with a wonderful feed provided by our catering officer Karen Clark.
The winners for the month were Wayne Giffen, Peter Shakeshaft, Brenda Setzer, Adam Giffen, Mick Cavic , Clair Giffen, Moya Hicks, Randall Setzer, and new weigh master Anthony Hicks who did an excellent job.
There were a few fish to hit the scales but it was a fairly quite comp as it is that time of the year and nobody could get outside but saying that there were good bags of whiting, salmon and drummer turning up from the beaches and rocks.
But all were complaining how Brou Lake has been stripped clean of all the bream over the past weeks with the commercials flogging it to death when it opened.
The renovations for the barbecue are on hold for the time being while the club and council work something out and having been locked up in Canberra for the past three weeks.
I am keen to see how the boat ramp at Apex Park is proceeding with the council looking into this some 18 months now and listening to the local news today there is a meeting at the Bay this week to seek advice or submissions from the public to improve boating.
Seems the Bay and Moruya don’t have the same problems as we do down south.
The next comp has been dropped back a week to allow for the NRL grand final and Blues Festival so it will be October 10-12.
And we have had a few enquires about a trip to Brogo, so if we get enough interested we will be looking at November 8-9 for a bass bash.
